Kevin Gilbride will no longer be offensive coordinator of the Buffalo Bills.

That’s the best news I’ve heard in quite a while. The new head coach of the Buffalo Bills, Mike Mularky will bring his own offensive coordinator, Tom Clements with him. Hopefully Clements can take what weapons the Bills have and use them to their outmost capabilities. But we’ll see…

I really don’t like or dislike the choice of Mike Mularky (I giggle every time I say his name). I have no feeling about him one way or another. I can’t sing his praises, nor does he make me froth at the mouth at the mere mention of his name as some of my fellow Bills fans have done.
But one thing I will say is that I just don’t believe he was the best choice out of the prospective list of candidates.

I liked: Dennis Green (he made an over-the-hill Randall Cunningham a Pro Bowler)
Charlie Weis
Tom Coughlin (I like his discipline)

I disliked: Jim Fassell (idiot coach, worse than Greg Williams)
Dick Jauron

Mike Mularky? No feeling, one way or the other. I would rather see Weis make chicken salad out of Drew Bledsoe the same way he did with Tom Brady. But then again he is one of the guys who favoured benching Bledsoe instead of Brady during the Patriots Super Bowl winning year….so what do I know?

I wish Mularky the best though. The Bills do have Top 10 talent and should do well next year. And as you can guess I’m expecting them to make the playoffs next year, but then again I expect them to make the playoffs every year. Lol

Now on to my picks for this weekend…..

I was truly shocked when Philly somehow beat the Packers last weekend. The Eagles somehow played above themselves (its true Anthony its true) and they will again this week. Not that they need to. I think the Panthers are overrated but I will give them their due for getting to where they are now. But I think Philly can show up with only their C game still beat the Panthers. And if they bring their A- game, it shouldn’t be close. But this weekend it’ll be their C game so I think the Panthers will keep it close, but the Eagles will win.

Carolina (+4) over Philly….but Philly still wins outright!

Peyton Manning had a good run. And I emphasize the word ‘had’ because his run is over. Thrashing a Denver Broncos defense and having your way with a Kansas City defense is one thing. But doing the same to a Bill Belichick defense is another thing entirely. Once Belichick finishes with him, Manning won’t know what hit him. Now I realize that the Colts lost to the Patriots earlier this season 38-34 by only a yard but that was then. And the now is that Belichick will devise a way to stop Manning. As intelligent as Manning is and as talented as he is to deal with adverse situations (this season anyway). He will have a hard time dealing with the swirling winds, the bitter cold weather, a frozen hard football, a noisy stadium and the vulnerability of the Colts’ special teams (Bethel Johnson burned them for 2 TDs in week 13). To deal with all that and still succeed? Not this week. Patriots will win this game.

New England (-3) over Indy

I think Philly and New England will meet in the Super Bowl. They have had mirrored seasons. Both started out slow, both began picking up speed, then both towards the end of the regular season they out-classed and dominated their opposition. Now both teams have 2 of the best quarterbacks who possess intangibles that cannot be explained and both teams are hosting their respective conference finals. Absolute mirror teams. With all the injuries both teams have suffered this season, they are probably the 2 deepest teams in the league. So I guess it’s no coincidence that both teams are 1 win from reaching the Super Bowl. Depth wins. The new NFL slogan….maybe not, but it’s true. It’s true it’s true.

Good luck everyone. Enjoy the games. Hopefully the exciting play in the postseason continues.
